EDI PLAN

When we launched our new charitable structure at the start of 2024, we also embarked on an inspiring programme to “Open Tennis Up” across Kent. Our mission is to transform communities through tennis and padel, making them welcoming, enjoyable and inspiring to everyone regardless of background or ability.

We’re committed to making inclusion the standard, not the exception, ensuring our sport truly reflects the vibrant diversity of our communities. While we know this is a long-term journey, we’re dedicated to providing strong leadership and support to gradually create a more inclusive and diverse tennis landscape throughout Kent.

You can explore our EDI Action Plan below which outlines our priorities and ongoing initiatives, as well as our Progress Report 2025.

To support our commitment, funding is available for initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion. For more information email disability.tennis@kenttennis.org.uk

CALENDAR

Our quarterly EDI Calendar aims to give ideas to help players, coaches, volunteers, officials and administrators to celebrate underrepresented groups in tennis and how to connect with their local communities.

INCLUSION NEWS

INCLUSION FESTIVAL

One of the highlights of our year is our Inclusive Festival, where players of all ages, abilities, and disabilities come together for a fun and inspiring day. It’s a celebration of community, inclusion, and the joy of sport shared by players, helpers, spectators, and families.

VENUE MENTORS

We have 5 EDI mentors across Kent who support clubs, venues, and community programmes to become more inclusive. They come from diverse backgrounds and have expertise in schools, parks, and clubs, covering both urban and rural areas as coaches, volunteers, or teachers.

The EDI mentors can also help advise clubs on funding available for inclusive initiatives.

Interested in making your club more inclusive? Email us at  disability.tennis@kenttennis.org.uk

1 FOR ALL

OPEN COURT

Kent is part of the LTA’s Open Court programme to open tennis and padel up to everyone and make it inclusive and accessible for all. The aim is to support players, clubs and coaching programmes in their tennis and padel journey.  Our venue mentors are here to help you if you have any ideas, questions or need advice on how to make your club or centre more inclusive.

The County is proud to host a wheelchair tennis hub at the University of Kent which is increasing the number of wheelchair users to take up tennis.
