SECONDARY SCHOOLS COMPETITIONS

Kent Tennis organise Schools competitions throughout the summer term for years 7 -13. These competitions provide opportunity of fun, enjoyable and competitive tennis for their pupils at the appropriate playing standard. Competitions range from 1 day competitions to leagues that run across the summer term.   Further information can be found below for specific competitions. 

Kent Tennis Secondary School Doubles Championship

For all levels in years  7 - 13

A 1-day doubles competition held at Bromley Tennis Centre/Sevenoaks School. Teams are organised into beginner and club player draws to ensure a good playing experience for all standards. There are events for boys and girls

 

Format: 2 player teams

Events: Years 7 & 8, Years 9 & 10 and Years 11-13. 

Organisation: Round Robin boxes leading to knockout draws.

Doubles Champs

LTA YOUTH Schools Competition

For all level players in years  7 - 10

A singles and doubles team based league that runs over the summer term. A team consists of 4 players in Division 1 and 2 and 2 players in division 3. There are events for both boys and girls in Yrs 7&8 and 9&10. All Schools must be registered via www.LTA.org.uk/schools to take part in the competition. Registration is FREE for all schools.

DIVISION 1

Teams in Division 1 feature students who are more experienced competition players and tennis is one of their main sports. The winner of each event in division 1 has the opportunity to play on a regional and national level later

County Knockout stage: (winners only) September - October

Regional Finals: (4 x central venues) November

National Finals: (Bolton Arena) December

DIVISION 2

The majority of teams compete in Division 2 in a localised league during the summer term only. Players have a limited amount of experience in competition and are of a lower club / recreational standard. A rating cap applies at Division 2 to provide more appropriate fixtures for teams involved.

County Finals: (winners only) take place in June

Regional Finals: County winners qualify for Regional Finals in the autumn term held at a central venues

DIVISION 3

More suitable for beginner players who are looking for an introduction to tennis.  Players compete in a team of 2, with separate events for boys and girls.

1 day localised doubles festival using green balls

LTA YOUTH Schools National Championships

For club/county level players in years  7 - 13

Players compete in a team of 4, with separate events for boys and girls.  Boys in Years 7-13 compete in the Glanville Cup and girls in Years 7-13 compete in the Aberdare Cup.  The events consist of singles and doubles matches starting in area knock out draws and culminating in national finals. All Schools must be registered via www.LTA.org.uk/schools to take part in the competition. Registration is FREE for all schools.
