TENNIS LEADERS
Tennis Leaders are young people who help coaches, teachers and volunteers with tennis activities at their club or school. It is an ideal opportunity for clubs to offer young people a new challenge, retain their interest in tennis and support the development of a future tennis workforce. Plus you can get some extra help with your coaching sessions, competitions and behind the scenes activities.
The LTA Tennis Leader programme offers courses for young people aged 11+ in which they learn and practice a whole range of leadership skills. The courses are organised by coaches in clubs and teachers in schools. To become a qualified Tennis Leader, a young person completes a core module plus one elective module. More courses are available to further develop their skills alongside opportunities for experience helping at their club or school. Young people who have been involved as leaders over the years say it helped grow their confidence, have fun and make new friends, plus it gave them something special to add to their CV.
In Kent, Tennis Leader courses are normally organised at individual clubs and at Bromley Tennis Centre. Below are links to 2 courses being run in October 2023:
Monday 23rd October, Avenue Tennis, 10-4pm
Tuesday 24th October, Bromley Tennis Centre, 9-3pm
The Kent Coach Network runs network events for Tennis Leaders from all clubs providing an opportunity for leaders to meet each other and learn from top Kent coaches. Every year, clubs and coaches have the opportunity to nominate their leaders for the Kent Tennis Rising Star of the Year Award which is a part of the Kent and LTA Tennis Awards.
