GOVERNANCE

From 1 January 2024, Kent Tennis will change its legal structure from a volunteer led unincorporated Association (with a Board of Management, Council and a part time staffed Office Team) to a volunteer led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (with a Board of Trustees, several Committees and a part time staffed Office Team). The new title will be the Kent Tennis Charitable Incorporated Organisation, but still known as Kent Tennis.

This transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) requires an election of our new Board of Trustees at the earliest opportunity; Kent Tennis will be holding an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 9 January 2024 at 7pm (online via Zoom). The agenda (including link to regsiter for the online meeting) and the appendix (with short biographies of those nominated for election as Trustees) are below.

Changes to become a CIO were previously approved by our members at an EGM on 22 May 2023 which will allow us to claim Gift Aid for donations from individuals, benefit from funding opportunities only open to charities and greater donations from sponsors, who tell us they would give more if we were a charity. Our members voted unanimously in favour of the changes to help take us forward as a CIO from 1 January 2024. This will help us open up tennis to more people in Kent and set Kent Tennis up for the future.

The Annual Review and Annual Accounts for 2023, along with the Winter 2022/23 and Summer 2023 Inter-Club League trophies will be presented at our Annual General Meeting on Monday 29 April 2024 (details will follow by end of March).

Details of the current volunteers and staff can be found on our Meet Our Team page.
